Bed and pillows were uncomfortable. Hallways were not vacuumed. Trash was over flowing. One of our rooms didn't even have a shower curtain.

Positives:
The location was good, as the only hotel in the area. The rooms were large and with interior doorways. The view from the dining area towards the mountain was nice. The staff rush you out of that dining room thinking that you might be enjoying the view too much. The excuses for forcing you to leave the only room with a view vary with the guest, but the attitude is that somehow one should not enjoy the room's view. The winds bring dust and obscure the mountains in a haze many days. The cars get coated in a mud from the dust storms. The state rest area is across the street. The cell phone reception is acceptable in the one dining room or outside, with the rest of the areas being spotty. The internet wifi works a few hours a day, a few days a week although the connection to the wifi is excellent without internet.
Negatives:
The staff did their jobs the same way for 15 years I was yelled at. They knock at every door yelling House Keeping at 9 in the morning, often opening the doors and meeting half sleeping guests. Check out is at 11 yet they want the guests to leave early so that they can do their jobs. Maybe with an empty hotel they will be able to do their jobs all day. They do not use the dropped off keys as an indication which room is vacant already and instead do a trial-and-error method of discovery by disturbing every guest with their hollering Room Service. The rooms have poorly fitting doors and the noise travels under the doors with the guest not knowing whether the knocking is for them or someone else. The entry to the property is too steep and curvy for safe access to the road. Exiting from the property it is hard to see the oncoming traffic as the parking lot is too low for the road access.

It was close to the exit and had lots of space around it.
Negatives:
It was old, rundown, the bushes were overgrown interfering with the opening of windows, and the staff did not care about the guests. They knocked on every door or eight or nine yelling room service. There was no cold water in the shower. The wind blew out a window upstairs in another room and it was not cleaned or boarded immediately. The internet did not work most of the time, even though pressing the button on the router would have solved the problem, the staff was afraid to press the button.

This hotel is clean and staff is friendly and willing to help with anything. I like that there are two good restaurants across the street. In-room coffee is good. We like to stay here because it is a straight shot to both Pueblo and Trinidad, and more affordable. Planning to return when the pool is open. Real old-fashioned outdoor pool with a deep end. Heated!
