Positives: We've been going to this hotel for many years and I can say that rooms are always very clean. We always find the valet service impeccable and always worth having! Enjoyed the swimming pool and new sauna. But recommend the maintenance personnel inspect the sauna installation as some nails are lifting and a person could catch their foot.
Negatives: Found the new front staff professional but a bit spiritless. We've been coming to the Wpg Fairmont for years and were sadly disappointed at how 'bland' it felt. But not so with the Valet personnel. They remembered us by name and are always generous in their services. The Velvet Glove provided a prompt breakfast but the coffee was lukewarm and the bacon tough and uneatable. The second pot of coffee was perfect but the Chief did not know what a 'coddled egg' was, so had them based. Also, menu uninspiring if you happen to have a food allergy. Not worth the money. We were the only people there! Found the front staff unhelpful when we asked to book another night's stay. It was going to cost us $140 higher than the previous night. What's the point in being a past loyalty customers all these years when management can't reasonably accommodate. The friendly atmosphere that once characterized hotel, in my opinion, is lost. It's been replaced with the importance of signing up with the 'new' loyalty program. We'll question future bookings.
