Moxy Oakland Downtown

Negatives: Like nearly all ADA in the USA, this ADA room at the Moxy Downtown Oakland fulfilled about 45% of the average ♿ person's needs or desires. I will just go thru the things that were missing or will be a challenge for many ♿ guests. -Very heavy room door. -Bed was somewhat high at 23". -No space underneath to place a chair, body part, or hoyer lift under the bed. -All the room storage was under the matress & below knee height. -Very small desk. -Only three low coat hooks. -No full length body mirror. -Not low enough mirror at the bathroom sink. -Toilet flush lever was on the wrong side of the tank, tucked away in the wall corner. -Room telephone and a light was tucked away down a 12" wide bedside space. -Poor to dark room lighting. -While the hand shower was reachable from the fold down shower bench, the wall shower was not aligned with the bench. -Awkward to adjust room thermostat (low enough, but tucked a bit down the 12" wide bed space). ♿Positives were +Electric controlled window shades. +Room soap/shampoo/ conditioner which were free standing and not attached to the wall. +Taller toilet seat than the standard room at 20". Overall the staff were kind, but seemed very young and poorly trained. The building itself also felt cheaply made with poor insulation and heating. Only price competitiveness would make me consider staying here again.

Negatives: the coffee could be better.

Negatives: I paid for a Bay View room just to learn there are NO BAY VIEWS!!! Parking is expensive! My room faced Telegraph Ave and the lights from the parking lot across the street shined directly into my window, so I couldn’t enjoy the city lights at night.

Negatives: No valet for parking and have to park across the street where it’s gated.

Negatives: Our reservation was for a King Room with a "Bay View". Our only view was a parking lot across the street, and some tall buildings. I don't know if any room in the hotel would have a view of the bay... anyway, that was misleading and disappointing. Also, we wanted to try to connect to our streaming services after a long day of travel, and our TV wouldn't connect to the internet. We contacted the front desk, who said the "engineer" was gone for the evening (it was later in the evening, like 9 or 10); the only thing they could do was switch our room. Well, it was too late for that as we were already settled in and tired. So, that was disappointing, too, that something advertised online and in the room wasn't available - which should have been an easy fix. (The hotel's internet was working fine, we were told.) Decor in the room (an unframed poster clipped to the wall) just feels cheap.

Negatives: One ply toilet paper. No seated smoking area.

Negatives: I was surprised that there is no laundry service or option to do your laundry. I was sent to a laundromat, which is not only timewise difficult to arrange when travelling for work but I also ended up in some sketchy areas to find the Laundromat. The area of the Hotel itself is not super convenient and doesn't feel completely safe.

Negatives: room was a bit basic if staying more than a couple of nights - would have been nice to have tea/coffee facility in room
