De Soto National Memorial

De Soto National Memorial depicts 16th century Spanish cultural values and the clash with the native cultures that the expedition encountered. In late December to early April, there is a reproduction of the 16th Century Indian village with park rangers dressed in period costume. Interesting blacksmithing, armor repair, cooking and military weapons demonstrations are given. Dogs must be kept on a leash no longer than six feet in length and are welcome in the park but are not permitted on the beaches or in the buildings.
