The Shawnee National Forest is an enormous swath of forested land that extends into parts of ten Illinois counties. This is a great place for an outdoor adventure -- there are several wilderness areas to explore, as well as a 90-foot natural bridge, the remains of a Native American village, and hundreds of miles of hiking trails. Dogs are welcome to visit, provided they are leashed when required and under your control at all times. As always, keep our parks clean by picking up after your pet!
