Assateague Island National Seashore offers human and canine visitors an experience like no other. Enjoy a wealth of recreational and educational activities, enjoy the sea, salt air and sunshine, and catch a glimpse of the Assateague wild horses. Dogs are welcome to visit the Maryland portion of the Seashore, at no additional charge. They are not allowed in Maryland State Park, or in the Virginia portion of the island. They are not allowed on nature trails or on life-guarded beaches, and they must not ever be left unattended. the must be on a leash no more than six feet in length, and you must clean up after them.
