The Mount Vernon Trail is a paved trail that stretches for 18 miles, all the way from George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate to Theodore Roosevelt Island. It also connects with other regional trails, and winds along next to the Potomac River to provide clear views of the Washington, D.C. skyline. People and their pets can run, walk, and bike along the trail, which takes them to all of the same sites that can be reached by car, on the parallel section of the parkway.
