Positives:
I like the room and the overall appearance of the hotel. It had a regal and vintage aesthetic to the hallways and rooms. Overall, the staff was very pleasant and accommodating with me during my travel. Special thanks to hotel employee who helped me check in.
Negatives:
I do think the room is decent size if you were traveling with a partner, however, I do think the views outside the window was not as pleasant. The window was not overlooking the city, it was facing the side of the building.

The rooms have a strange smell. The rooms don't have air conditioning in one of the most humid and hot cities in the country. The room was baking unless the window was left open, and that air was cold. The bed wasn't great either.

The room, the complimentary coffee, the service and friendly staff, there was always a person to help us whenever we needed it. It was close to transportation services and close to cafes and restaurants.

Charming boutique hotel, very friendly and helpful front desk. The room was clean, quiet and offered plenty of heat and hot water. There was a complimentary reception in the evening offering wine and cheese.

Location could have been better as there is not a metro rail line within a good walking distance and there is not eateries within a walking distance.

Positives:
Overall, great hotel and location. The staff were absolutely amazing and went above and beyond to help us when we had a flat tire. The building is very old (maybe historic if I were to guess) and so the elevators and rooms are small which we did not mind. To me it added to the charm. Our room and especially bathroom were updated and felt upscale. Perfect location for us to walk about the whole city but especially close to the bars and restaurants of the very beautiful Adams Morgan neighborhood. Also fun and interesting to walk the immediate area around the hotel to see all of the embassies! Another little bonus is that dogs stay for free which most hotels do charge for.
Negatives:
The only negative to our stay was the $15 breakfast. Its optional (the coffee is free) and normally we would skip it, but the morning of check out we really wanted something convenient so we could focus on packing up and heading out. I understand food inflation costs but $15 per person for a regular continental breakfast felt a little silly.

I have stayed at the Normandy a few times before and I can say that is a cozy neighborhood boutique hotel. It has everything you need without paying for the extras you don't.
Negatives:
During this visit, we were placed on the ground floor with windows looking onto the breakfast room. So we couldn't open our shades. The staff upon check in were not overly friendly and we had to ask for information- like the wifi password and breakfast time. We also were woken up multiple times during the night by Rats or Mice in the walls of our room. Not a pleasant stay.
