First of all… THIS WAS NOT THE HOTEL I CLICKED UPON, WHEN I GOOGLED HOTELS NEXT TO MY MOTHERS HOSPICE HOSPITAL. MY TRIP WAS TO SPEND AS MUCH TIME AS I COULD WITH MY MOM IN HER DYING HOURS.
I needed to be as close as possible to her… and did not realized that Booking “captured” me and then booked me at a different hotel (20 miles away). The hotel I wanted was 2 blocks from hospital.
I tried (on Saturday for 3 hours) to transfer to the correct hotel (who held a room for me if I could cancel the site booking sent me to). The manager at the wrong hotel was a complete ass and refused to allow my transfer. I would have to pay either way, and I couldn’t afford that. The lady who was trying to help at Booking was extremely kind which I truly appreciated.
So that time cost me 3 hours from time with my Mom on Saturday and after I went to hotel to sleep for a few hours… sure enough… My mother passed Sunday morning at 5:30 and I was not there with her.
On top of everything my room smelled really bad, was nasty in spots and was in poor condition to the level of a Motel 6 or cheap flop hotel. This morning I had to wake up with an extreme smell of sewer gas.
I’m so angry at how this came about. This was completely unfair that you can fish me out of the system and send me to a different hotel unbeknownst to me. I tapped on the hotel by my Mom. I had no idea there was another Comfort Hotel in Sarasota. My confirmation only stated Comfort Inn I75. Both are close to I75. A consumer most likely will not know their nicknames. And the fact that I had to have both companies “agree” to “allow” me to transfer to the other hotel was ridiculous and completely unethical. And too, unethical as to how you “captured” me. I am writing a more detailed complaint about this to our Attorney General. This was so unfair to me at a moment in time that NOTHING can make up for. My poor 94 year old mother died alone and I missed precious time with her over your game playing with the public.
