Positives:
We chose this motel as base for local sights and the eclipse. It worked very well for that. In fact, Charleston turned out be a great find. There are excellent museums at the Lincoln Douglas debate site and the
Thomas and Mary Bush Lincoln house. Great insight into mid-19th century life and the beginning of commerical farming.
Negatives:
The breakfast is barebones. The bed is in metal box that creaked. The value was fine for the normal price of a room; we paid a 50 % premium for the eclipse; our choice. However, it developed that as the market changed the price went down. We weren't watching and didn't take advantage of free cancellation. No complaint about this but beware in this traveling situation.

Box springs for the bed was a sheet of tin. Every time either of us moved, it made noise, so consequently, we got little sleep. Putting a mattress on tin, made the bed rigid and uncomfortable.

Close to the university which was the reason for the visit. Had a minor problem with the bathtub not draining properly and the next morning it was fixed. Staff was very polite and attentive to guest needs.
