A beautiful old hotel with...
Positives:
Staff were very helpful.
Negatives:
I didn’t like that they made you pay for parking and didn’t park your car. They offered free shuttles, but then they didn’t have anybody to pick you up if you went anywhere..

Negatives:
We were woke up by fire alarms at 2:30 in the morning & had to evacuate. Fire trucks came, had to be outside for a long time. Given an all clear & got back into room just to have the same thing happen 10-15 minutes later. The fire alarm also went off the next day around 11:30am. This was all very inconvenient, loud & disrupting. There were no fires of any kind any of the 3 times. The reason I booked this hotel was for convenience, it looked beautiful & it said it had a shuttle the ran all day until 11pm you just need to set up time with front desk staff. Went down Wednesday morning to set up a time to get taken to CHI Center as we were in town so I could take my daughter to a concert. I was told there would only be one hotel running at 6:45pm leaving the hotel. The concert started at 7. That was not enough time to get to the location, through security and to our seats. Had to arrange for other ways to get to the venue. Incredibly disappointed with this hotel stay all the way around. The staff wasn’t overly friendly & offered nothing when it came to the inconveniences of all the fire alarms & evacuating and the shuttle not running. Incredibly disappointed with everything about this stay which makes me sad because we were looking forward to it & had told everyone about how beautiful it was.

Very good
Positives:
Very friendly staff and with one of the best airport transfers I've had in years. The check-in process was seamless and the room was clean and ready when we arrived.

Superb
Positives:
Beds were soft. Shower was hot. Walking distance to the downtown stuff.
Negatives:
They have got to get control of their faulty fire alarm system. It went off at 12:30am for 10-15 minutes, the firemen came and inspected all the hallways, and I couldn't fall back asleep until 3am. It went off again at about noon the following day for 10-15 minutes as I waited around for my flight. I came to town for important interviews, and I paid for a good place to sleep but it wasn't.

Need to fix the fire...
Positives:
The property is beautiful.
Negatives:
The rooms were outdated, poorly cleaned, they didn’t pick up room service for 2 days straight. The staff yelled at me and straight up made me do most of the valet work even though I paid for valet.

Positives:
The breakfast was sufficient, some items were a bit overly dry (bread/muffins) like they had been held too long, otherwise the meal was fine & met our expectations, waitress was friendly & served us kindly.
Negatives:
At check-in we were given a room # with card, for a 3rd floor room. We parked in the secure lot, entered the building & proceeded to the elevator area. When exiting the elevator at 3rd floor, with our luggage, we found our room down a long hallway, the door was open, where a service man was in the bathroom working on a shower head, it was apparent staff was not aware of the room not being available. He apologized & walked us back to the elevator/stairs area where he called staff to get us another room. This took some time, standing there with our luggage. We left that area with him by elevator to the 1st floor when by that time, a different room was assigned to us, he ushered me to that room, a suite, unlocking the door while my husband proceeded to the front desk to exchange room keys. It was not a big inconvenience to us except for the fact that we were anxious to get into our room to rest a bit before heading out to the market area. We were kindly offered a suite to replace the inconvenience which was greatly appreciated, staff apologized numerous times.
