The location was great, the staff were really friendly and helpful. Portland has done an amazing job in cleaning up the city. Getting around is easy with the Max and buses.
Negatives:
I thought there was free breakfast but there wasn’t, the room was fairly dusty, one bed had a mattress pad as a blanket, I had to call for more blankets. There was no garbage can in the room, only in the bathroom. The coffee station hadn’t been restocked and the glasses were dirty, there were no Paul Mitchell products in bathroom (as advertised) the bathtub was really slippery, shower head and tub filler were not sealed so just sort of moved around, there was so much grime built up on the trim I found myself cleaning it. I don’t think anyone’s cleaned that for years, with hot water, a washcloth and my nail I was able to get off a lot of ick in one little section. Hopefully it’s clear enough the next housekeeper will notice. The ice machine was not working. Overall the hotel is really in need of a deep cleaning, a bit more attention and a tub mat would be nice. For the cost I expected way more. We travel often and this was a first staying at a Courtyard. I’ve stayed in much nicer places for half the cost.

Positives:
Good location. I was able to walk to most attractions and to the train station (very handy for my day trip to Salem). Very comfortable bed. Didn't hear any street noise - an important point for me, since I am a very light sleeper.
All staff members were polite and accomodating. My last day I had an evening flight and they held my luggage after check- out at no extra charge.
Negatives:
I was happy with this hotel and I don't have any really negative comments. Perhaps one thing they could improve is the lighting in the room, which was a bit dim. One suggestion: the coffee in the lobby is in a niche and not easy to see. I discovered it on my last day while waiting for a cab. Why not point that out to the customers when they check in?

There was was a door that seemed to connect to another room, and I wasn't sure if it was locked properly and some mild paranoia set in. Lamp appeared to be broken on one side of the bed, but as I was about to check out I realized it simply wasn't plugged in . . .
