Valet parking $35 a day. If you don’t plan on using your vehicle it seems a little excessive to charge $35 to park a car in your lot. I requested not to use valet service and was initially told I was fine to park and not use the service. Story changed a few hours later and I was charged. When checking in the clerk asked if we had stayed at the hotel before when I replied yes, she simply handed me the key portfolio and didn’t even bother to tell me the room number. Never again…

Positives:
Beautiful hotel, clean, and well decorated. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Great location if you want to get to UT, possible to walk if you need to be on that end of the school but pretty far if you need to get to the dorms and other end but it appeared there was a bus and trolley running. Very easy to walk to the convention center and main square shopping, and worlds fair park. Lots of restaurants about 10-15 min walk away. The hotel restaurant was very accessible, good food and helpful after a long day at the convention center for sports tournaments and we didn't want to go out anymore.
Negatives:
I did not fully appreciate the constraints of parking. It was a mandatory valet, which on top of a steep parking fee of $35 also involves tipping someone - everytime you interact with your car. It is absolutely excessive. Especially since we were there for a sports tournament in the convention center which only charged $10. So it would make just as much sense to stay a little further away and drive in. I thought it would be nice to be able to walk and avoid the convention center garage everyday it really wasn't worth it. The hotel garage never appeared very full and the hotel was at capacity so it even appeared we could have parked our own car too. Perhaps there are certain times of year this would be more necessary but not when we were there. There was a half empty parking lot next to the hotel that appeared connected as well. Overall it didn't make sense for the steep parking rate and need for valet only at this time of year.
