Microtel Inn & Suites By Wyndham Salt Lake City Airport

Negatives: Front staff were friendly enough but clueless on how to find our reservations.

Negatives: When down at 945 am they were cleaning up so didn't get breakfast

Negatives: There was strong smell of cleaning solutions upon entering the room.

Negatives: I had a horrible experience with my car dying in Wyoming on my way to Salt Lake City and when I called Microtel to ask for an exception to their refund policy, the front desk receptionist told me they could not make an exception for their refund policy because I was not injured in an accident, despite the fact that it was physically impossible for me to arrive to their hotel. I had to then pay for another accomodation that night in Wyoming. This is extremely bad customer service and I am surprised how little compassion and understanding there was for my situation, which just goes to show Microtel is purely business oriented and doesn't actually care about their customers. I would have stayed with Microtel in Cheyenne WY where I was stuck, but because of this extremely unpleasant experience with Microtel I decided to stay with another hotel chain. I will never go to Microtel again and will encourage all of my friends and family to also not give their business to such a place.

Negatives: The bathroom had mold on the ceiling, the beds were not comfortable, the decor was tacky and dated. For a place being so close to the airport, it would have been nicer if they had more accommodating hours for breakfast.

Negatives: It being close to the airport means it can be quite noisy, shower pressure was on the low side, shower temp was either really hot or luke warm.

Negatives: Breakfast and each time we go the rates are different so it is hard to know what we are going to be charged. The desk staff very nice and helpful but bottom rooms allowing dogs can hear the upstairs noise fairly well. And although tehre are doggie bag containers there are never any in them and we have stayed there over a dozen times.

Negatives: Rooms were clean but need a little make over. Some were showing signs of age. Beds were a bit stiff.

Negatives: Better pillows.

Negatives: Checking in was made unnecessarily difficult by the man who refused to try any of my cards, saying they were "too similar to online banking." I have a Visa credit and debit card through my bank, and my boyfriend has a Mastercard. I also had a costco credit card and cash. He refused all of our payment methods for the safety deposit (the room was paid for). Eventually, I had to contact my parents and get a picture of my mothers ID and one of her credit cards to have on file since he refused mine. My mother's card is also a visa... I'll admit I'm confused. On the form, it said they took Mastercard too. Furthermore, he said they didn't take Apple Pay, but on the screen, when another guest was checking in, it said they accepted Apple Pay. All he did was repeat "no online banking," but nowadays everything is online, and I got no further explanation. Overall, it was a horrible experience and absolutely exhausting. It took us 1 hour and 45 minutes to check in. :(
