Positives: Reception staff extremely friendly and helpful
Negatives: Bar not open very night. Closed for private function another night. Never sure when it would be open. Not all staff friendly. Frosty greeting at reception on night it was closed for private function when we asked why. Asked for hairdryer (would think they should be in rooms) took an hour to get it. Staff apologetic but still........

Positives: I really liked the interior decoration of the room - modern, clean and artful. Room was well-equipped with a coffee machine, bathrobes, slippers and everything you would expect of a 5-star hotel. The service is absolutely fantastic - from the front desk to housekeeping. Made some requests during my stay and the staff were always polite and helpful. An amazing experience. Would definitely stay on my return to Vancouver.

Positives: The location was convenient to get around on foot and the property is well kept. The rooms feel comfortable with a nice bed and large television. The shower was very nice. I appreciate the quickness of the elevators, the doors open and close without delay. The fitness center is spacious and updated.
Negatives: The noise. the rooms look as if they would be good at keeping noise from coming in/going out, however this is far from reality. An important FYI for those who do not know, this hotel is pet friendly, and it is also attached to Vancouver's only casino, so guests will likely be staying out late. The first night we arrived, it was late and we wanted to go to bed, unfortunately, a guest staying in the room across the hallway from ours decided to bring their small dog and abandon it in their room while they gambled the entire night. The poor dog was screaming in the room from midnight to well past three a.m.. I called the front desk to complain, however the Douglas front desk is only available for certain hours, and after hours concerns must go to the Marriott front desk next door. I went down to the Marriott and explained the situation but there was little they could do given the hotel was fully booked and there were no other rooms available away from the dog. Once three a.m. rolled around and the dog had kept me up, I decided to go down and demand they do something about it. They were able to find another room on the floor below for us to sleep in for the remainder of the night but the damage was already done, and I was exhausted for my work conference at six a.m.. I appreciate there are travelers who bring their pets with them, however I would have expected stricter animal policies from an expensive hotel such as this. They told me travelers with pets must sign an agreement that the animal will not be left unattended but clearly this agreement is more of a guideline and there are no repercussions for leaving your dog unattended the entire night, . The hotel did compensate me for the restless night, but given I did not sleep, it was the least they could have done.
Comfortable rooms but minimal sound...
