Negatives: The Best Western Gold Rush Inn is the worst hotel in town. To preface, I almost never complain. In fact, I typically leave good reviews despite mediocre service. However, it took 45 minutes to check in because the desk lady allowed a couple, claiming to have a reservation, to waste her time. Even after it was clear that they did not, in fact, have a reservation, instead of asking them to step aside so she could help the growing line, she repeatedly checked and rechecked her system for 30 minutes (yes, we timed it). Eventually, they were forced to simply pay for a room like everyone else, which added another 15 minutes to the wait. After driving for 14 hours, the last thing I want to do is spend 45 minutes standing in a crowded lobby with all of our bags because of staff (or policy) incompetence. As for the hotel itself, the ceilings are 7 feet tall, the walls paper thin, the floors like the skin of a drum, so every movement overhead echoes in the rooms all night long. And the "Saloon"/restaurant is about as filthy as it gets. For the ceasar salad, they served me raw chicken on a soggy handful of iceburg lettuce for $17. I've lived around the world and eaten terrible things, but this meal was king of them all. It would have given Gordon Ramsey an anuerisym. In short, stay at one of the other 100 hotels in Whitehorse.
Positives: Akshita was amazing and very welcoming at the front desk. She was very knowledgeable about the area and approachable
Positives: Central location downtown with a good restaurant attached.
Negatives: Quite cold in the room - staff left the window open.
A great place to stay...
Positives: Great location for exploring the small downtown area. Easy walk to visit the SS Klondike exhibit. Breakfast was not included, but there is an on-site restaurant/bar. The food and service there are good.
Negatives: It is a very old hotel, so the hallways are tight, and the elevator is slow. As long as you know that and are prepared to work around these issue, you'll be fine.
Positives: It is a very beautiful and modern space, so welcoming. They take care of the details to make the space feel cozy and warm. Their staff is very nice and helpful! They really took good care of me and my fiancé during our stay.
Negatives: The one thing I believe the property could use improvement on is in their communication with the restaurant and how the breakfast included package works. Their staff was very nice but I still felt they didn’t like when I came with the tickets instead of paying directly to them. Next time I think I would just book the room and pay for breakfast separately to avoid the whole fuzz.
Positives: localisation was great, staff was very nice
Negatives: i would have live to have some fruits available in the lobby like apples
i enjoyed my stay thanks...
