Very clean and a good location for my intentions. The free breakfast was actually quite good. The staff was very friendly.
Negatives:
Property is under renovation and that was not noted on the site. My room was originally located on a floor with drywall dust and debris and an old bathtub located in the hallway right outside my door. I requested a room change, which was honored. Additionally, the pool was not open for use, but was listed as an amenity.
There was a tornado warning my first night. Being from California, this was a new experience for me. I called the front desk for information when the sirens went off and was told I would have to monitor the weather channel on television. I asked if there was some kind of hotel warning system, like calling the rooms etc. I was told they couldn’t guarantee that they would call the rooms, and once again I was told to “monitor the weather channel” and if needed to evacuate to the stairwell.
I was in no way panicked by this situation, but it didn’t instill confidence in the staff’s emergency training and what to do and/or say to guests.
I would encourage management to train or “refresh” the training of the staff in regards to emergency situations.
