I resent being charged a resort fee when clearly nothing is offered for it. Just state the price before booking but do not adopt this trick from budget airlines. It damages your brand and make you look like cheap and devious.
The location is not great if you do not have a car.
The restaurants close at 8 and 9 pm...seriously? where are we here suburbia? the countryside?

I would avoid this hotel....
Positives:
Great amenities in a LA area that seems to be bucking the trend of homelessness, decay and blight.. Generally had a good vibe.
Negatives:
Staff is nonexistent or out of touch. Front desk clerk claimed he was doing me a solid by upgrading to a suite so I didn't have to overlook the construction zone across the street on a Sunday when no one was working. I took his lead and wound up in a room that stared into the same hotel from across the hall. I had to keep the blinds closed to prevent other guest from peering into my room. Not quite the upgrade I wanted. Oh it was derby day so I went down to the hotel bar to watch the race and have a cocktail but no one staffs the bar during the day so you have to ask someone to pour you a drink but it is such an inconvenience for them you will need to wait 30+ minutes to get anyone's attention.

Elegant hotel run by Motel...
Positives:
The staff was welcoming and helpful. Our family enjoyed the lobby fireplace gathering area, rooftop pool to lounge as well as dinner at the restaurant Prima Donna. We also received two free tickets for the local metro that was included in our stay, which allowed us to take the metro to Santa Monica. The staff was quick in delivering a kettle for tea, extra hangers and towels. The creativity, cleanliness and decor made you feel at home.

Positives:
The location of the hotel is excellent, in a very nice and safe part of town - easy to get to from the airport. The hotel itself is quite modern and an upgrade was offered for a small fee. The staff was very helpful at check out and kept our luggage for us.
Negatives:
The value for money could be better - but other than that, there was nothing that we didn't like.
