Estancia La Jolla Hotel Spa

Negatives: The room was advertised as two queen beds, but they were clearly full size. The bathroom, toilet room has some dirty drippings on the wall behind the door. The initial front desk staff weren't very helpful, or friendly. As a local we were coming for a work related staycation. Celebrating a team member who was recently engaged, I asked if there were any possible room upgrades available. Not only was that not acknowledged, but they gave us a room directly next to a wedding ceremony happening on property. Although we arrived early, in hopes of checking in early; there was not a room for us until after 3. By the time we went to check in, we had to shuffle our bags past the wedding guests, and quietly try to get into our room without disturbing the ceremony. Unfortunately one of the keys I was given to the room wasn't working, so I went back to the front desk to replace it. While waiting my turn, I see the front desk attendants talking to a couple about upgrading their room. Additionally the other attendant was being very thorough in letting the guest know about the ins and outs of the property. When I checked in I was simply given a map, and told my room was down the hall to the elevator, 1st floor. It just wasn't the level of service I was expecting from Estancia. Although, all of the valet team were very helpful in holding our car, and bags while we waited for our room; and again in the morning while we checked out and had breakfast. I've stayed at numerous "luxury" properties in San Diego. Overall, for the cost and reputation of Estancia; I was pretty disappointed.

Negatives: I wish the rooms were a little bit cleaner when we arrived. Housekeeping quickly came and addressed our issues but only issue we had.

Negatives: staffs dont have a service mind.

Negatives: We did leave our room and removed our do not disturb sign hoping that our towels would be replaced and bed made but that didnt happen. Not the biggest deal, if we really needed it we would have asked.

Negatives: Terrible pillows, very thin blanket, loud. Dated.

Negatives: It seemed very understaffed. There was always a long line at reception even if you just had a quick question, and while the valet seemed well staffed the majority of the time, on the day of check out there was one poor guy who was running ragged and I ended up having to wait for a very long time and then take my bags myself because I was going to be late for my flight. Also, they definitely needed more menu options on the lunch menu in the restaurant.

Negatives: Fake grass and fake rattan furniture basically plastic. With such a nice property seems a bit out of place. The worst food we ever had was at Burros all served cold when we sent the cold fish back we received another cold fish.

Negatives: The walls seemed to be a bit thin. Heard the neighbors super late at night and super early in the morning.

Negatives: The air conditioning unit was very noisy
