Surf and Sand Resort

Negatives: Unfortunately they are renovating so it’s not the most appealing. We stayed in a re- furbished room - it was nice until I realized the toilet was never cleaned. Imagine old pee residue at the base/back of the toilet - large yellow/orange on both sides. And then the heater went out in the building or at least our room - they had no ETA when it would be fixed so they gave us a space heater. They offered another room but I was told it wasn’t re-furbished so I passed as I can’t imagine what the room probably looked like. They did offer to remove the resort fee from the bill due to the toilet issue - $50.

Negatives: This hotel is very rundown since my last visit. The main hotel tower is being refurbished. Be prepared to hear construction equipment from 8AM on weekdays.

Negatives: There was this gate by the pool that lead down to the beach area that ever time someone closed it would slam and wake us up as we sought to nap by the pool area. Just a small fix but a big one too.

Negatives: We were not told about the construction beforehand. Lack of restaurant was bad. Bar was comfortable and friendly but smelled musty.

Negatives: The buildings are being renovated. No heaters in the rooms.

Negatives: The charges for overnight parking

Negatives: Had to call a couple times to receive cleaning in my room. There are fees not included within the booking total that are hidden once you get to the facility. If you have a credit or discount from booking.com you will have to pay the discount the night of check in and then will receive a credit returned to utilize on booking.com it is not a real credit or discount. Also there are large holds on the source of payment. Overall the stay is really expensive, there’s no AC in the rooms, requires $40 valet parking a day not included in the stay.

Negatives: Under contruction so very noisy during the fay and the pool is very cold

Negatives: This hotel is completely under renovation!! This was NOT disclosed at the time of our reservation. The noise level of the construction from 8am-4pm was over the top loud! It was impossible to relax, enjoy the sound of the waves on our balcony or the pool or the restaurant. No sleeping in either! Apparently, it's high tide season so you could not even walk on the beach in front of the hotel let alone sit on the beach. The hotel was not at all like was is shown on their website. It is in desperate need of renovation. The pillows on the bed were so flat it was almost impossible to get comfortable. One of the employees that originally checked us in was less than friendly. Arrogant actually. All of this for a very high room rate!! I'm positive once the renovation is complete, this hotel will be amazing but they will probably double the price to stay....so it will be a minimum of $1000 per night to stay if that's the case.
