Just the smoking, when there was a lot of no smoking signs. There was tenants smoking inside rooms and coming out to the ventilation ac system to all other rooms.

clean for the most part but needs some work and upgrades. lots of broken things around the property. including gym, blinds on windows, elevators... etc

Was fine and whatnot, but the gym equipment was either non-existent or destroyed in pieces. like... completely broken. I'd say it shouldn't even be listed as an amenity.

The Metropolitan Hotel is in a great location, with parking at a reasonable rate ($5/night) and a very friendly staff. The room was clean and nice. The bathroom was a bit dimly-lit and wasn't quite as nice as the rest of the room, but it was still quite fine and the room overall was excellent. Everything about the hotel was convenient and the staff was helpful. A great place to stay!

Right at the freeway and major arteries. Traffic flow visible from high floors. Free LA Times.

Breakfast room fairly bare.

Shiny lobby, convenient to everything and just a wee bit seedy. View of landscape a little deadly (parking lots, etc.) It's in a small shopping center with a 24 hour deli, a pretty good restaurant, professional offices, etc.

The price couldn't be beat. It was also relatively convenient to public transportation.

It is in a very dicey neighborhood.

Clean, affordable, accessible, but in a rather "seedy" part of town. The hotel itself is secure, but you wouldn't want to take any walks around the hotel after dark, but then again, who walks in LA?

Good price, nice hotel. I had a very nice room, big and clean. The staff was helpful, there is a parking in front of the hotel (5$ per night) so you don't need to look for a parking space in the street. A bit far from the main sites of interest but I won t hesitate to recommend this hotel to my friends.
Positives:
The location is conveniently off Highway 101 and Sunset, and has a great view of Hollywood.
Negatives:
Underground parking appears to be scarce, though the security guard allowed us to park outside.

The hotel is perhaps 12 storeys high with no other nearby tall buildings, providing a lovely view of Hollywood from every room. Though a bit spartan on amenities, the room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The plaza surrounding the hotel was useful, with a convenience store, Cuban restaurant, a snooker parlor, and the ever-so-needed Belize Consulate within easy walking distance. We had a cable-TV problem which they fixed promptly. The only issue we had was parking; the underground parking is minimal and cramped. Thankfully, the security guard was good enough to allow us to park outside in the plaza area. My girlfriend and I will likely visit again when we're in the area!
