Overall a comfortable two premier room stay for a family vacation. Loved the fireplace to warm us after a night walk from Fisherman’s Wharf.
Negatives:
Needs maintenance in some common areas and one of our premier rooms had multiple plumbing issues.

Overall maintenance and care is lacking….passageway tiles are loose and broken (unsafe), elevator not clean, toilet seat chipped, toilet clog on floor above became clogged and flooded our bathroom because water leaked through our bathroom vent (this occurred about 6 am but could not fix until 8am; no emergency plan in place to address these kinds of emergencies in a timely manner).
Appears to get a great deal of business, perhaps that is why maintenance and overall cleanliness and care were lacking. Very noisy…could benefit from double pane windows…situated off of a main street.

Location was good. Room was clean.
Negatives:
Staff could have been friendlier. No one told us we had to schedule housekeeping so no clean towels or tidied room when we came back from sightseeing. The bed was worn out. The shower had a curtain which I hate and looked nothing like the pictures. The bathroom sink was outside the bathroom. Disgusting. The light was out over the sink. The pictures on booking.com were great but not accurate. Not happy.

Positives:
Location was perfect. Frequent visitors to Monterey so we knew the exact location we were staying in. Staff in the office was very friendly and helpful i believe Samantha was her name. Beds were comfortable, restroom area in the room was nice and the fire place was relaxing. What you see in the pictures is what you get. Maybe not in HD like the pictures lol.Location is right in the middle of everything. After checkout we were told we were ok to leave our car there until 5pm, which was a plus so we can walk around the warf. Parking is $20 at this property. Which was good to have its own garage and not be left finding street parking.But no need for a car when you can walk to everything. Breakfast was good, seen alot of reviews that said breakfast was sad so my expectations were low.but the breakfast was honestly enough to get the day started. Breakfast burritos, self served cereal, bagels, fruits and drinks. Not a buffet but enough.
Negatives:
We are not to picky so no complaints. Did notice some dirty spots in the corner, like coffee or something spilled on the wall and baseboards. Rooms are probably not deep cleaned every day. Room had a smell but nothing opening the doors for a bit couldn't fix. Definitely hear the airplanes and traffic. But nothing that ruined our stay. Has that rustic, cottage vibe which we expected and like. We have stayed in many hotels. So if I wanted the Hilton I would of stayed at the Hilton. This isn't meant to be a bad review, no complaints enjoyed our stay.

Great location front desk staff is awesome! Having a fireplace on a cold weather night can’t beat it!
Positives:
My husband and I have been going to this hotel for many years. We always get the junior suite with a king bed and a fireplace. It’s always been a great experience, so cozy and within walking distance to the wharf. This time I noticed small issues, like when I was checking in, the front desk had quite the build up of grunge on it, like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. First impressions mean a lot.

They did end up switching our rooms for a shower that did get hot. It was a very rainy weekend and there were some roof leaks in the breakfast area.

I love this hotel. I just hope the owners try to fix things before they get too rundown.
Positives:
Location is close to downtown Monterey and the bike path.
Great water pressure and nice, hot water for bathing.
Negatives:
The property needs some attention. Some tile coming off the wall, the toilet paper roll doesn’t fit on the dispenser, the floor needs a good mopping and holy moly the noise the upstairs neighbor made was unbelievable. Sounds like a herd of elephants above us. The lighting in the bathroom is terrible, and the room is weirdly laid out.

Positives:
Centric and close to everything. Room was spacious, with a beautiful fireplace and a bath tub.
One of the three front desk girls was helpful and welcoming, but the other 2 were short and dry.
Negatives:
Shower and bath tub are separated, which is great, if only the bathtub had any soap or shampoo dispensers as well.
Mattresses and pillows were too soft and not comfortable.
Website advertises a jet tub, but upon arriving, we were informed it didn’t work. They let us use the one located at a sister property, which was great, but not ideal if you have to drive for 5 minutes, soaking wet, after you use it. At the other hotel there wasn’t a place we could use to change or a restroom.
We asked the night before to get our room cleaned the following day but it didn’t happen
Breakfast was basic and definitely not up to expectations for the price we paid. More like a motel style breakfast
I would not recommend it nor stay again.
