Positives:
Portola Hotel & Spa is a wonderful hotel to stay near the Monterey Bay Aquarium & Monterey Pier. The customer service is excellent and we are always warmly greeted at check-in. I love how family/kid friendly and dog friendly this place is. Our favorite part is the location, it’s walking distance to everything. There are two wonderful restaurants on site (Jacks & Peter’s Brew Pub) and several shops with a delicious crepe place and Carmel Coffee Company too. Every Winter there is an ice skating rink in the plaza and the hotel is beautifully decorated for the Holidays. We love how clean and spacious the rooms are. Plus, wearing robes down to the pool & hot tub.

The paid parking gets a little confusing, but the front desk is very helpful.
