I booked this hotel for the close proximity to the aquarium, their pool and because of the good reviews. I regretted that immediately upon pulling into the parking lot. It looks old and sketchy from the front desk parking lot. Once you pull into the back to your room it's a super old hotel. The room we were in was updated but the door security lock was busted so I didn't feel secure in my room with my daughter. The water pressure was very low, the sheets were very uncomfortable, bed frame super squeaky (even just turning to get comfortable) and the pillows were either too firm or too floppy. The TV didn't work and the pool was shut down for maintenance. There were also loud airplanes flying overhead but that didn't bother me much. The front desk lady was super rude (short green hair). It's fine if you just need to sleep.

The Staff were Great: friendly, courteous, helpful (Erika & Miwa). Spoke to Ricardo on phone few times, he helped assign room prior to our arrival. They were prompt for our requests (towels, assistance w/TV, room change, etc). Understood situation: Everyone was clear/transparent to let us know low on staff during certain hours for front desk, low on housekeeping staff & provided info re: about the area & restaurant attached, hotel guests get 10% discount. The freezer/fridge combo was spacious for mini size, able to store more in freezer section. Liked having a good working ice machine & washer/dryer on the premises, used both during our stay.
Negatives:
The first room: TV wasn't wrkg & weird odor, the staff promptly gave us option to move to another room, the 2nd room TV worked great, a bit cleaner too, appreciated the larger freezer part of the mini fridge combo was very convenient and had a nice balcony over looking the pool (Rm 227). Even tho nearby airport, we didn't hear the airplanes like we did in the
previous room. We were definitely satisfied after the room change.
*Dropped a suggestion to provide larger room trashcans in the rooms, especially if housekeeping is not done daily.

Dangerous chemical sign in reception left us little hope (see image). We asked the receptionist what the dangerous chemical was and they said they couldn’t comment on it. Definitely wouldn’t stay here again. Also had a sign saying there would be no night staff or housekeeping team due to what they called a “hiring crisis”. As others have said, there was a smell in the rooms.

Stayed just one night en route to San Francisco. Very friendly staff and comfortable rooms. Easy to get to aquarium and whale watching trips booked, and hotels looked after our bags happily. Easy to find, easy to park, nothing else needed
