Negatives: On 3/13/25 Paid online Hotel Booking $71.53 after a confusing registration where hotel advertised as La Quinta by Wyndham Reservation 4490417401. On 3/25/25 from "Booking . com" an. email. informing me that LaQuinta by Wyndham changed "their' name to Oakland Arena Airport Hotel and a receipt for $71.53 (paid in full). Attached was a sheet mentioning renovation work being done through 2023 and first quarter of 2024 and food services may be limited or unavailable due to Covid-19. and a "damage deposit of $125 due at sign to be reimbursed within 14 days of check-out. On 4/16/25 date of check out I was charged $125.00plus given a credit of $43.38. ??? on 4/24/25 charged $91.80 for a room I did not reserve for 4/23/25. When I checked in I asked if I needed a room on the 23rd would I get the same rate and the lady responded "yes" A reservation was not made. I did not receive a reservation notice so did not have one to cancel so elected to just drive home that evening 4/23/25. As of 5/18/25 have not received my security deposit. Room was adequate but hotel didn't appear that any renovation had been done. At first appearance looked abandoned.

Positives: The rooms were large and spacious
Negatives: Everything seemed to be broken, pool jacuzzi, elevator, desk chair, leaking ceiling in the hallway. $125.00 security deposit i was originally told would be held anywhere from 3-7-14 days. Everything is already broken what am i securing??

Negatives: Bad staff that did not provide what was advertized. Staff was incompetent and not understanding of the stress that they caused because (Do to "error") they could not see that I'd paid for the booking. After the front desk person asked me for 3 different proofs of payment she then tells me that its not her fault, that I paid booking.com and that I need to call booking.com. By the time I got an agent on the phone my partner got a room key from the hotel. The room was disgusting with random stains on the headboards and dressor, thin cheap covers and lamp shades so old they could have seen the hotels better times in the 80's. And, they gave us a room that was adjoined to another room where the guy in the room was so loud that I felt like he might as well had been in our room. My partner got us another room which was also dirty with outdated bedding fixtures and furniture. As for that refund, when I tried to cancel at check in booking.com said they needed to talk to the desk. When the booking.com agent rang the front desk multiple times she purposely ignored the phone. Because of that I was told that I need to stay at the hotel because they could not confirm a refund with them. All of this happened on my birthday. Also, no one stays there. The only other people I saw there were the homeless people camped outside. Avoid this place. It was a La Quinta the day I booked it. I got an email telling the name changed and nothing else. That was a lie. Avoid this place.

Positives: This was the worst place we have ever stayed. Amenities listed are not correct, no airport shuttle, no breakfast, no pool, no elevators, disgusting old smoke smell mixed with urine smell in the halls and room. Doors to the stairs propped open with towels and garbage. Very unsafe area. Homeless community. Staff must get complaints alot because they seemed to hate their jobs. We didn't complain at all we know it is not their fault. They are clearly understaffed. Bed headboard had what appeared to be blood all over it. Most carpet is torn up and dirty. All chairs were very dirty we had to ask for extra towels to lay on the chairs so we felt like we could sit. Toilet doesn't flush. We didn't dare drink the water so we braved the scary walk to a store for water. Pillows felt like bags of rocks. No blow drier. Drapes are clear so no way to make the room dark to sleep. Not anything like description on booking. We deserve most of our money back. But heck we lived. Yay!!
