Candlewood Suites is pet friendly! Pets weighing less than 80 pounds are welcome. A non-refundable pet fee will be charged to the guest’s account upon check-in based upon the length of stay -- 6 nights up to $75, 7+ nights up to $150. Proper medical certification specifying that all vaccinations are up to date must be available upon request. Pets may be left unattended in your room. However, if you leave the premises of the hotel with your pet unattended in the room, the pet must be in a crate or pet carrier while you are gone.

Very close to the San Diego Zoo and Old Town. Close to freeway offramp. Plenty of room and a mostly complete kitchen. Desk staff was friendly.
Negatives:
They charge $15 to park - but provide no service for that $15. The charge is packaged as $115 when you check out and wasn't advertised in their online information. I had to question the hotel to figure it out. Also, we had a child with us on the reservation. There was a sofa bed available in the room for the child, but we had to open it and put it together for sleeping. Lights and light switches were weird there were a number of sensors that did nothing. There is an ice machine but no means to carry the ice to a room.
