Very close to the freeway. And I did appreciate the fast check in/out.

The room had spiderwebs along the wall near the bed. There was a second door in the room with a deadbolt lock on it. It was uneasy to have a door that we didn’t know if someone could access from the other side. The toilet was very loose, it would wiggle forward during every use. The bed near the AC unit was blocking half of it so the air didn’t circulate at all. The pictures online are absolutely not like the actual rooms. And lastly, there were other guests that started yelling and fighting right outside, it went on for a while, I was too scared to sleep thinking I would need to call the police.

Upon entering we noticed multiple things that were not right, first of all, the bathroom door could not close, the shower was damaged and the floor of the bathtub as well, then we checked the floor of the room, it was very dirty and looked like it had days without being cleaned, later when we checked the bed, the sheets were stained everywhere, completely damaged, obviously dirty, we also found hair all over the bed and pillows.
In short, the place looked nothing like the pictures posted on the websites.
I went back to the front desk to talk to the person in charge and asked politely to please change our room and she indicated that it was not possible. I asked her to at least please change the bed linen (sheets, pillows) and she indicated that it was not possible, as she did not have clean clothes.
Besides that, she told me that the place was dangerous, that if they knocked on my door I should not open it because they could be homeless and that I could not do anything about it.

Positives:
The place is located at the edge of downtown and balboa park. I was able to walk to the convention center in about 20 minutes, gas lamp 15 minutes, balboa like 15-20, depending on where you are going. There are some fast food places close by and a few other restaurants in various directions. I also used circuit for a ride, it is a free service within downtown. The place is old. It is similar to a drive up motel. But the beds are comfortable. Bathroom old but well maintained. Had a Roku TV. It is at the end of a road so depending on where you stay you hear cars driving by. It didn't bother us. Free parking which was great.
Negatives:
Experience was overall positive. There was left over food in the fridge but I gave it to the cleaning lady and that was that. The wi-fi was bad. They gave me a username and password but that didn't work. The general wi-fi was useless.
