Residence Inn by Marriott Walnut Creek

Negatives: Fire alarm went off twice. First time , not an issue, we evacuated. Second time about an hour later, we evacuated again, front desk staff said alarm system had not reset properly. Alarm tech was Niort responding. Fire captain had to insist the front desk manager call alarm tech again.

Negatives: The valet did not know how to drive manual, so we had to park our own car in the uncovered portion. No one actually valeted the car, but we were charged. The valet staff was amazing, but I can’t say any service was actually performed

Negatives: We found a used condom in the bed where my children were going to sleep. When we first checked in (after check in time) they said our room wasn’t ready. After half an hour of waiting with my three children under 6, the front desk clerk finally said it was ready. We found the condom after lifting the pull out bed, then realized other parts of the room were not clean as well. They stated they overbooked so could not move us to a different room until later on. That was a Wednesday. Saturday when we checked out was the first time I was able to speak to a supervisor as all the other times I tried throughout the week I was told there was not one on staff. Needless to say we will not be staying there again. It takes a lot for me to write a bad review, but put my children at risk and/or put them in an unsanitary environment and I will say something. All I was offered at the end were points to which have no meaning to me as I’m not a Marriott rewards member.

Negatives: The Residence Inn has charged me for my room - $610.41. They are telling me the charge to booking.com was declined. So, I have paid twice for my room. I have contacted booking.com several times and the issue is still not resolved. I have also contacted my bank to dispute the charge.

Negatives: Frankly, the hotel looks a little worn and the desk staff every time I was there (5-6times) was not friendly and very busy talking among themselves. There were two exceptionally welcoming desk staff members who stood out. The fixtures in the bathroom were loose, coming out of the wall and wall paper starting to come away from the wall. The grout in the tile was dirty. Not a big deal but a half dozen of us at about 5:30 a.m. went without coffee and were told that no coffee before 6:00a.m. Several very unhappy business people (me among them).

Negatives: There were occasional communication difficulties with front desk staff. Though pleasant, the valet staffing seemed overworked. Had to wait more than a couple of times... I had to let the front desk know that we had been waiting 10 minutes (the car had been brought out but no valet) - all I needed was anyone to give me my keys. The front desk person gave me an automatic "he'll be right there, he parking a car"... It was obvious that wasnt the case.
