Positives: The location near the dunes was great….short ten minute ride into the park. The rooms were very clean and up to date, and our back patio looked out towards the dunes. I was told by a number of people that this is the place to stay when you visit the Great Sand Dunes National Park, and they were absolutely correct! We’ll come back again for sure.

Positives: You cannot beat this lodge when visiting the National Park. The views overlooking the dunes from the patio of each room here are incredible, and it’s about a 10 min drive to the park entrance. We loved having outdoor space, it was clean and comfortable, very quiet, and the staff were so incredibly friendly! Incredible value for money as well.

Positives: Motel is right at the Great Sand Dunes National Park and is the only motel lodging in the area.
Negatives: Room hasn't been updated in many years. Furniture and fixtures worn.

Positives: The room was clean, but smelled of Pinesol so strongly that we had to air out the place. Good thing we had a box fan and extension cord. Beds were comfortable and bathroom all worked well.
Negatives: We payed ~$260 for this room, including taxes. The advantage is that it is just outside the park. The disadvantage was that they were in the process of closing down for the season. The restaurant had closed the week earlier. The hotel was out of frozen pizzas to cook in their pizza ovens. For us to get a meal would have required a 90 minute round trip to the nearest town. The breakfast was "Grab-n-Go". The breakfast food left over on 10/19 was pop-tarts and cold cereal. The owner seemed to think this was all okay and delivered the news with an ironic smile... The room looks like it was remodeled by your brother in-law. Outlets were few, and poorly placed. Some were dead. There was still Spackle on some of the boards, and the molding was not finished. All of the above problems would have been overlooked if this room was $120-130. At $260 you're paying premium prices. For the previous two nights we were at a B&B in Montrose, CO. We had top notch service including a breakfast to die for. It also cost ~$260/night. At this hotel, and at these prices, we expected that they should, at least, keep services available until closed for the season. (end of October) Instead they gave their customers a short shrift. Even if they had all the services working, this would not have been worth $260/night. We will never stay here again, and we recommend that you don't either.

Positives: The location is great! Really near the dark skies spot on the Dunes, so the stargazing is amazing. Facilities are really clean.
Negatives: The dome tents are extremely barebones. Only a single half sized pillow per person and an uncomfortable mattress. The radiator needs to be at maximum otherwise it keeps turning on and off very loudly throughout the night. The plastic windows of the dome were too opaque to see through really, but enough to result in a very bright early morning. Didn't sleep a wink. Restroom doors are kept locked and are difficult to unlock, which is annoying if you're getting up for a wee at 3am.

Positives: The location is outstanding for spending your time at Great Sand Dunes National Park. The rooms have patios in the back with gorgeous views of the dunes and ever changing light. The staff were great and really cared about our experience. Trina was wonderful!
Negatives: We spent the first night in a camper that was cold and loud with sound of the portable heater and the wind whipping through the cracks in the louvered windows. Moving to a room was heavenly!
