Red Roof Inn Milford - New Haven

Negatives: They were understaffed to the degree that they had signage explaining that staff was limited, and only cleaning rooms for multiple day stays once every three days. We were only staying one night and are pretty clean, I didnt think there would be a problem. Walking to the room we saw two people with the cleaning carts going from room to room. I figure that was a good sign. We walked in to hit a wall of perfumed stench. I assume they were trying to create a clean smell, but it instantly gave me a headache, and a stomachache. And the door didnt fully close unless we pushed our body weight against it. We had planned to drop our bags and head out to the event but finding a clean spot was difficult. There was enough dirt, dust, and hair in the corners that I am pretty sure the room only had the sheets changed and a quick bathroom cleanup. Probably for quite some time. Even the clothing rack and hangers had dust on them. There was some form of raised splatter all over the desk. It was just so gross. Unfortunately, because there was no availability elsewhere that night, we just kept out stuff contained, tried not to touch anything and waited until we were back home to shower. The bed was not very comfortable and sounded like a tracker trailer going over a bridge anytime one of us moved. I thought someone was rolling a cart upstairs until I made the connection that it only happened when one of us rolled over. In their defense, I did not go to the front to ask for a new room or a better cleaning job. I was only staying one night and didnt see evidence of bedbugs, so I figured I would treat it like camping. I really didnt want to miss the event and we were already running late. The price would have been great if the room was not so dirty. I will not be staying here again, and cant imagine trying my luck at another Red Roof Inn again.

Negatives: Flying insect. Horrible 'air freshener ' smell.
