Positives:
Love staying here! This was my second time here. It's such a great location if you are looking for a quieter, calmer stay. It's away from the Waikiki noise and action, but still close proximity to it - and right next to the gorgeous beach and lovely park. The rooms are spacious, clean and have nice views of the mountains.
Staff was always very helpful, friendly and accommodating.
Parking is expensive (as it is everywhere in Waikiki), so we didn't rent a car, but used the HUI cars available on the lot, which worked out well.
Great hotel, and great value for such a desirable location!
Negatives:
Just fyi the "partial ocean view" really is partial in that you look around a few buildings to see the ocean (but this not uncommon for Waikiki, unless you pay a fortune for your room). So we still enjoyed our view.

Positives:
The staff were exceptionally friendly. We were given an upgraded room without even asking and the room was very spacious and comfortable. The ginger scented welcome cool towel and juice was a very nice touch. Also, the complimentary drink from the restaurant bar was delicious.
Negatives:
Only 1 Illy coffee pod per person was in the room, but we were given more upon request.
Parking is pricey

Positives:
I like the friendly staff and location
Negatives:
The streaming service required requesting Roku and had no instructions. Key cards kept failing so had to reset at reception a few times. Only one elevator servicing 12 floors.

Positives:
From the greeting by Melvin, a simply wonderful front desk/ concierge person, from Anne - just the best and most knowledgeable front desk staffer - the entire staff of the hotel were just the finest one could ask for. They were interested in my days, they helped me with bus schedules, and nearby services as I needed them. As a solo traveller the interaction with staff like those of the Lotus made the trip really special.
The hotel gives one everything - having the coffee maker, microwave , and fridge in the room really was very useful. I used them all every day. Also the wonderful filtered water system available in the lobby worked very well and the refillable water bottles were a very nice touch.
Negatives:
I can't think of nything.

For a walker like me...
Positives:
Very pleasant quiet room, (other than the ensuite) with comfy beds and lovely outlook towards Diamond Head and Waikiki Beach. The location near Diamond Head is perfect, especially as there is a big park opposite with lush green grass, and just a few metres in the other direction to Waikiki Beach. We were able to walk to/from the centre of Honolulu most nights for extra exercise.
The games room with the golf simulator was terrific, although when it overheats it wipes all the info..frustrating when you're midway through 'playing a course at St Andrews'. They also have a really great gym, which overlooks the park opposite. Yoga is held every Saturday morning in the park too.
We really appreciated the complimentary use of the laundry facilities and the beach chairs & towels also.
Negatives:
The ensuite in our room was very badly dated, as are the lift facilities.
There was no offer to provide breakfast at the hotel at all, which did surprise me as it is a lost source of extra revenue. The cafe in the hotel next door is excellent for breakfast (opens at 8am..get the beach front table!) but, like so many cafes in Honolulu, is quite overpriced.
The onsite restaurant is only open for dinner, which we tried once and found it completely overrated.
The hotel bikes are provided free of charge to guests, but are sadly in very poor unoiled and unserviced condition. One of the bikes we attempted to use broke down midway uphill on Diamond Head, the rear gears becoming awkwardly wedged in the wheel spokes. The hotel staff were very apologetic though, which we appreciated.
We would have liked use of a hotel pool, even if on the roof. But this wasn't a big problem as the beach is so close by, and pleasant despite the very sharp coral.
There is an overall lack of communication from the staff towards guests advising of activities in the area. Some hotels that I have stayed at previously will provide a nightly report on the following days special/not to be missed events and forecast weather, slipped under the door or left in the room by the maid. It really would show a level of consideration to guests that I'm sure would be much appreciated. We overheard about the Diamond Head market from other guests in the lift. We passed Le'ahi Beach Park one morning when out on a walk to the Diamond Head lookout. It was too late in our trip to visit at sundown though, so that was a missed opportunity.
We didn't like the amount of open air carparking also visible from our hotel room. It seems ironic to look at cars baking in the hot sun every day, when a solar panel roof could so easily be installed and generate some much needed cheap renewable energy on the island. Apparently electricity prices in Hawaii are 3-4 times that of mainland states.
