Positives: Excellent breakfast. Easy checkin
Negatives: Not enough parking. We had to park in the overflow lot which would have been fine, but we didn’t get there until late and it was just me and my daughter. The overflow parking is not well lit. Didn’t feel very safe. We stayed in the 3rd floor. No ice machines on 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th floors. We finally found one on the 6th floor. Nobody told us anything about no ice machines at checkin.

Positives: Convenient to Norton hospital
Negatives: Staff noise tv not working had to change rooms. When we changed rooms we were told they would bring the new cards up to us but we waited for over an hour and nothing we ended up going down and getting the cards for the other room ourselves. The guy said sorry we don’t have any staff I am by myself, we were there because we had a death in the family and it wasn’t a very good experience for us. The hallways were very noisy after 10 o’clock. I actually yelled at one time it’s quiet time calm down because I knew there was no use calling the front desk because he was by himself and wouldn’t do anything about it, I probably will never return there. Also, I asked for a ground floor room, but there were no grand floor rooms and asked for one closer than the fifth floor which what we got it just was not a good stay for us The carpet was very dirty downstairs in the walking area.

Positives: Our king room for the 2nd and 3rd nights had a good bed. The rooms and common areas were clean.
Negatives: We arrived to learn that they had given away our king room (apparently a maintenance issue forced them to give our room to someone else) and we had to stay in double queen room. As the town was very busy that night due to a UofL game, we didn't have a good option to change hotels and the front desk clerk said she would comp our parking for the three nights. The beds in room 604 seemed like full size (not only based on trying to fit into it, but also were noticeably narrower than the queen-width headboard on the wall) and the mattress was extremely hard. Two sliding shelves on furniture would not stay closed so were hazards. After a terrible night sleep we worked with the front desk to get back into a king room, which was proving to be a bit problematic over the next four hours to get confirmed until we later reiterated that we had originally booked a king room and then a king room became immediately available. When asked about our stay on check out, the front desk rep was very apologetic to our story and volunteered to comp the parking. However, she was surprised when I told her it had already been done as it was not done as previously promised but she took care of it. Overall, the property is getting tired but they seem to be doing some basic maintenance (although the fans blowing air into the hallways are incredibly loud - our friends with a room next to one were bothered by it during the night). The typical Hampton Inn inclusive breakfast works ok for their traditional price/value point but is not great when room rates are into the $200's per night. Definitely a transition area in downtown - two blocks from some great areas but directly across the street are two boarded up pawn shops.
