Positives:
Its a bit tricky reviewing this place since we got there while they were in the middle of construction/upgrades. As such, certain areas were full of building materials and dust. Additionally the parking lot was full of building materials. And also full of potholes. Once you got passed that initial shock the hotel itself was nice. The breakfast was just ok. Not elaborate. The room itself was spacious and clean. We had a room with a mini kitchen which we really used and found it perfect for our needs. Beds were ok - not the best beds we ever had. Not the worst either.
There is a supermarket literally 30 seconds away walking distance which was also very helpful.
Ellsworth is about 20 minutes outside Bar Harbour so getting back and forth was not bad.
Negatives:
For me the biggest issue was the price. First of all, the hotel was in shambles since they were in the middle of construction. We were shocked by the appearance when we first got there and left a bad taste in our mouths. They should have offered reduced pricing during this time. Again, the room itself was nice and clean but the general experience was negative. It was also very expensive for a hotel outside of Bar Harbor. While it is only about 20 minutes away we still paid a premium price.
