Disappointing in many aspects of...
Positives:
Unfortunately, the hotel was being renovated. We had no knowledge of this. I was traveling in a very busy city with elderly parents. There was nowhere in the hotel to grab a bottle of water, a snack, or, let alone, a meal.

The person at the front desk was rude and condescending. She was short and contrite with my parents and myself.

The hotel was under construction. There were not restrooms or facilities on the first floor. They charged 3 dollars for water. They also charged me a lot more than what was originally quoted through booking.com. Extra charges for parking which I never needed or requested.

Unfriendly staff on checking-in was even eating an apple while serving us. You must request rooms being done (I thought covid was past) and even if we did, toilet paper was not replenished, empty roll still hanging there. Seems a basic to me. Elevators very long waiting times and partly out of order, key cards to get to your floor often not working. Lobby under construction, we were not aware in advance but that must be the reason for a relatively low price.

Hilton Gardens is a typical corporate-run hotel in a fairly big city. The spacious room was clean, functional, and had all the amenities (linens, free soap and shampoo, Wi-Fi, reasonably comfortable bed, etc.). The property's décor was bland and inoffensive. A friend visiting us looked around the room and summed it up beautifully: "Charmless but harmless," she said!
Negatives:
Parts of the hotel were under renovation, and so there were several issues related to that. For example, one of the elevators was usually not working. Since there were only two guest elevators (plus one service elevator), this made for long wait times. We often ended up taking the stairs. Similarly, when we checked out, and retrieved our car from the parking lot, the gate to release cars out onto the street was broken, stuck in the down position. After schlepping back to the front desk a couple of times, we finally got out of the lot, after about 15 minutes. Parking was also VERY expensive: $28 a day, plus tax. Additionally, at checkout time, we had a billing error (charged for breakfasts we did not have), and that took some time to get resolved. Finally, weirdly, the contour sheet on the bed did not actually fit the mattress. So it popped off at night. We had to re-make our bed every morning to make it work for the next night's sleep. There was no housekeeping during our stay. ~mp
