Location - 20 mins drive to Salem, even during Halloween madness of an October weekend!
By the main road but very quiet in rooms.
Easy parking near the room.
30 mins drive to Newburyport and all the loveliness of the beaches + coves of Essex County.
We had a suite 1st night - on UK 1st floor=flight of 16 steps. It was huge and smartly decorated. Large double bedroom by the sitting area/kitchen so 83 yr old Mum had that one, then very steep, long set of stairs to 2nd, mezzanine bedroom, which we managed. Both had ensuites.
(So care re access + stairs.)
Kitchen good sized and plenty of cutlery/crockery supplied, big fridge. (though very mean with the supply of coffee pods and powdered milk sachets).
2nd night had a ground floor, king-sized room with sofa bed. So more accessible (but would not get a wheelchair into the toilet!)
Negatives:
Price! Hellishly expensive for a motel right on a major highway + the breakfast offered. Didn't think the suite worth $685/night for 3, at the weekend, nor the king-sized room $557/night. But the area very, very busy in October.
Pool closed.
Breakfast = really a grab-and-go with pre-prepared inedible cheese+pork sausages on a rock-hard bagel. Coffee/tea, cereals, fruit + toast were fine.
No grounds to speak of.
The toilet and shower room was tiny - you couldn't be big and get in there! - a separate room to the wash basin/vanity unit area which was part of the bedroom. Odd arrangement.
