Positives:
The tub looked pretty clean. It was not far from Eastern Market, which was where i was going the next morning. They had a little snack store. I'm happy I only paid $135 through Booking.com.
Negatives:
I know the look they were going for, but they missed the mark. Boho, cement floors, etc. I was scared to touch anything. I guess nothing really looked dirty, except the rugs and the rusty cart the towels were on. It just felt dirty. Hallways were dark. They put me in a room all the way in the back, second room to the end. It did not feel safe. Neighborhood was undesirable. I did have my dog with me, so maybe the rooms for pets are not as nice? But I travel with my dog all the time, and the rooms are always nicer. If I had paid full price (around $190) through the hotel, I would have been mad.

Positives:
Dog friendly
Easy check-in/out
Spacious building surrounded by green space
Fireplace and chairs in the courtyard looked fun but we didn't use it
Nice grassy park right across the street
Negatives:
Not much countertop space in the bathroom - instead there was a towel cart that felt more stylish than functional
Pet fee wasn't mentioned in the listing

Excellent choice close to downtown
Positives:
The hotel manager was very helpful in assisting the police with the video of our car break in.
Negatives:
The hotel has very thin walls and you can hear the neighbors in the next room. Also our rental car was broken into the first night of our stay.

Want to like the place,...
Positives:
The check in process was easy. The bed was comfortable.
Negatives:
It looks like they have basically put a coat of paint on an old hotel. The restaurant and bar were not open when we were there (only open Thurs-Sat). It was too hot to use the outdoor space because it's in full sun. The halls are dimly lit, perhaps for ambiance or perhaps to hide the flaws. The bathroom was pretty basic and the shower room looked old. The shower was not great either. It didn't drain very well. We paid for secure parking and then found out we couldn't use it because they were doing some work on the parking lot. The immediate neighborhood is an industrial concrete jungle with little in the immediate vicinity but you can walk several blocks to Michigan where there are a couple of restaurants, shops and bars.
