Negatives:
Very shady , half done construction, grills and such in center of parking lot, no staff you have to call. Office is a tiny, dirty messy area the size of a closet. People living in some rooms staring at us. I cancelled as we did not feel safe there. No refund because booked through booking com even though website clearly said free cancel if before 2 pm which I did. Had to rate room low because if you don't care about the exterior, and your office- rooms can't be much better.

Scary Motel
Positives:
My room was exceptionally clean, which is rare in an older motel, and the property is very quiet. The towels were good, and plentiful. The area it's in is a nice part of New Ulm, and I felt safe taking long walks in the neighborhood at night.
Negatives:
The property is very run down, but it looks like it might be being refurbished slowly. There are a lot of semi-permanent residents, which didn't bother me, but might be a deterrent for some travelers.

This was the most disgusting room I have ever walked into. We waited thirty minutes for the cracked out on-site manager to bring us a key. The room smelled rancid. There were mouse droppings on the headboard. There was sand and dirt all over the carpet. Upon inspection of the mattress, bedbugs were revealed. The toiletries on the bathroom were used. The few minutes I was inside the room I knew we needed to get back in the car. The number to call and deal with the manager revealed he was from another town and would not refund this. It was unsafe for myself, let alone traveling with a child. This should be unable to be rented.

They were doing construction. It sounded like they were working on it all through the night. I didn't get any sleep.. I was told they had a fire there last year. The fire alarm was screwed to the ceiling. Very sketchy.
