Positives: We spent twelve nights, from November 24 to December 5, 2024, and we felt very comfortable, especially because we come to New York every year and have quite a bit of experience with hotels of this kind. The location is exceptional, just a few meters from the subway, and situated in a fairly central area like Chelsea, in the Flower District, it allows you to move around the city quickly and comfortably. The cleanliness of the rooms has been the best we’ve experienced in recent years—and there have been quite a few—so I would like to give special recognition to the staff at TownePlace for the excellent work they do, their dedication, and the care they put into their work. Regarding the problem with elevator waits that is frequently mentioned in reviews, as well as the issue with breakfast (included), we didn’t experience it. Not because it doesn’t exist—it does—but because we neutralized it by requesting a room on the lowest floor possible (we got the third floor), which allowed us to take the stairs up and down every day, avoiding waits. As for breakfast, on the first day, we went down to confirm that, indeed, there are endless lines, both to eat in the tiny dining room and to bring food up to the rooms. So, we simply went to nearby supermarkets to buy our own breakfast for the rest of the days, effectively neutralizing that problem as well. I think it’s a mistake to advertise breakfast as included in the price when it’s completely unfeasible and practically impossible to enjoy. Obviously, when on vacation, you don’t want to wake up at six in the morning to have breakfast, since that’s what we do every other day of the year. But even if you wake up early, having people standing next to your table, waiting in line, is not appropriate. If this same breakfast were charged at a reasonable price, it would be much better for both the hotel and the guests.
Negatives: The negative aspects, which also exist, start precisely with breakfast. I find it unhygienic to place chairs on top of the tables (I’m attaching a photo), every day, in a place where people eat. As I said, this happens daily. The hotel's Wi-Fi is very poor; if you need to work, it won’t be sufficient. I assume this is intended to push guests to pay for a premium service, but considering the cost of the stay, I’m not willing to do so. There’s a serious problem with the lighting in the rooms, to the point of being dangerous because you can’t see anything, whether it’s day or night. It’s quite irritating, to be honest. The size of the rooms, for New York, is standard, but it’s still uncomfortable, particularly because you bring several suitcases, and there’s no space. The wardrobe, frankly, would be better replaced with a simple bar to hang coats because one garment is enough to fill it. We liked the gym. I think it has equipment that isn’t showcased and could be useful for guests like us.

Positives: The room amenities were fantastic – a very comfortable bed and a well-equipped bathroom. The view was absolutely stunning, and the staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Truly outstanding service!
Negatives: The only minor downside was the sliding bathroom door, which was a bit difficult to open, but it was just a small detail compared to the overall experience. Additionally, there wasn’t a classic electric kettle, only a coffee maker with a hot water option, but I managed just fine.

Positives: Room was super clean, very well maintained. We didn't have any street noise and we felt that the noise isolation in our room was good. We liked the bed and the room service (cleaning) worked every day, it was great! Also the shower was super comfortable with everything we needed and great quality towels.
Negatives: We tried breakfast once, it's not so good - just take this into account, we never used it.

Positives: Practical room, comfortable bed and good kitchen. The location is good and the staff at the reception friendly.
Negatives: The payment procedure was intransparent and not costumer friendly. They put a hold on my credit card upon arrival blocking 1) what I was told the amount of the stay and 2) a security deposit. After checkout, a much higher amount was taken from my card (difference of almost 400 Euros). The security deposit remained blocked for about three weeks. Communication about this was okay, but despite saying that the reception staff should have made their payment practices clearer, the hotel remained unwilling to change their behavior in favor of the costumers. I was told it was my bank that as responsible for the hold on the card, which -the bank confirmed- is not the case. This must be a way of taking advantage of the costumer and so I can’t recommend the hotel.

Positives: The location is awesome, 1 minute walk from Train 1, and five minutes walk from Penn Station. Comfortable bed, good amenities, good breakfast. We didn’t use the kitchen that much but it helps. The cleaning ladies did a good job. Very good value for money. Would stay again
Negatives: The room can be small, but we managed to work with it. The elevators can be cramped and the wait can in peak hours be a little longer but nothing that bothers too much. For lower levels(we stood at the 7th floor) the walk down is quick.
