Our stay at Aloft Chesapeake was quite disappointing. From the very beginning, when we arrived and asked about the included breakfast—since we had paid extra for it on Booking for our family of five (2 adults and 3 children under 8)—the staff was reluctant to acknowledge it because it did not appear in their system. We had to show proof of the reservation, and even then, they only gave us a voucher for four breakfasts. I asked why not five if we paid for five guests through Booking, and they said that was a Booking issue, not theirs, and that they only offered courtesy for four.
Then, when we got to the room, there were no trash bags in the bins and only three towels, even though they knew we were a family of five. The air conditioning was set to cold at 60°F and still didn’t cool the room. Noise from nearby activities could also be heard inside the room.
The next morning at breakfast, we found out that the voucher for four was only worth $30 for a small counter they had with limited items—completely different from what was advertised on Booking.
Overall, it is definitely not the best place to stay with a family.

The staff who helped me during check-in was great—warm, efficient, and welcoming. However, the check-out team was not up to par. Their attitude made me feel like I was a problem rather than a paying customer, which left a negative final impression on my stay.
Negatives:
I didn’t like that the check-out staff made me feel dismissed and unwelcome, as if I was a problem rather than a guest. In addition, the hotel is extremely dated and in need of major updates and renovations. The condition of the property took away from the overall experience.
