Positives:

Negatives:
The only thing I didn't like was that the room was a little bit small for my family.

Nice staff very comfortable
Positives:
The beds are comfortable, rooms were clean and spacious. Continental breakfast was nice and hot. Coffee was delicious. Mary (sales & event coordinator) manager were very nice in assisting me I wasn't feeling well and had trouble walking. Thank you Mary for your kindness and professionalism.
Negatives:
The bathroom with shower needs a bar to hold onto. The ice machine in freezer didn't work.
The housekeepers needs to spray air freshener. Our room smelled like smoke I have asthma and am very sensitive to smell. I always carry Lysol spray with me because of this reason.

Exceptional
Positives:
It's an extended stay hotel with all amenities expected for such a type of hotel. The location is within 6 minutes of the Dulles airport and offers a shuttle. We drove so I can't rate the transportation.
Negatives:
The glass shower door got jammed and partially jumped the rail! It has held in place by the other roller. This happened on our last morning there. Due to this, I didn't report it until check out. Therefore, I can't rate the promptness of the repair.

This was our first time at sonesta. It exceeded our expectations.

This was our first time...
Positives:
I selected Sonesta specifically for its 2-bedroom, 2-bath suite with a fully equipped kitchen. Because we were only staying one night and had to leave before the included breakfast would be available, I wanted an equipped kitchen where we could make our own coffee and breakfast. We also wanted separate bathrooms to make our very early morning rush easier. We had to request a room change, but the suite we ultimately stayed in was clean and comfortable. It's very dog-friendly, which I'm sure will appeal to many travelers.
Negatives:
I had no idea that this hotel is a walk-up, garden-style (no elevator) property with exterior doors, similar to a motel. I'm not sure if I didn't read the details correctly when making our reservation, or if the listing doesn't make that clear. I learned this upon checking in, when we were told apologetically that no 1st-floor rooms were available. Our room access required walking back out into the dark and cold, along a sidewalk to the back of a building, lugging suitcases upstairs, and walking by a very full trash can and dog crate that other guests had placed outside their room. Our suite looked nice, but reeked so badly of a very doggy smell that I had to return to the lobby to request another room. We were given one of only several suites located in the main building, just upstairs from the lobby. (Why not give two older women this suite to begin with?) Back out into the dark and cold to return to the stinky suite, lug our bags back down the stairs and along sidewalks, back into the lobby, and up the stairs again. This second suite was perfect except that it was missing its coffee maker. We had to leave very early, before breakfast would be served, so we needed the machine. I went back to the front desk to request one, and eventually was handed a coffee maker that had not been cleaned (used coffee filter inside, carafe that had only been hastily rinsed, and two very long hairs stuck to the bottom of the carafe). Yuck, but I would make do. However, when I went to set up the coffee before going to bed, we discovered that the carafe was cracked and leaking water. At this point, I gave up trying to get things to meet my expectations and decided that we would leave for the airport without coffee. I'm sure this could have been resolved to our satisfaction, but 1) the coffee maker should be on the housekeeping checklist when cleaning and prepping rooms; and 2) the front desk manager should NOT have handed over a dirty maker, 3) we were tired.

Nice 2-BR suites, know that it's a walk-up with no elevators, our short stay could have been better
