Motel 6-Winchester VA

Negatives: Staff /desk person who checked me in kept banging wall extremely whilst mopping floor/ hallway lobby located next to my room wall/ i checked in to room took shower around 5pm watched tv fail asleep! Then he made excessive noise around 10pm and woke me! I ask who banged my wall extrememly loud whilst i could hear mop bucket being used and stored in utility room located near my room (151) he lied said it was a guest who made such noise. But only other guest is down at other end of hall way and has been in room since i checked in. He said nothing more i went to store to buy some food and returned to motel to eat in room. This person on the afternoon shift should be removed or fired from job!

Negatives: From the time we arrived at 7:00 PM to the time we left at 10:30 PM there were several groups of people hanging around outside, and some inside with their doors open. There was constant loud talking and shouting from room to room, slamming of doors, etc. There was even someone with an electric frying pan plugged into an outlet in the hallway outside their room, cooking dinner. Several men were on their phones in the outside hallways speaking loudly. As it got later and later, the noise and commotion calmed down some, but there was still enough every minute or so to set off our dog barking. I reported it to the front desk and the clerk said she would call the property manager. We waited about another 45 minutes but it did not appear that anyone had asked them to quiet down, or if they did ask, they weren't complying, as the noise continued. I asked my wife to turn the fan on the heater/air conditioner to make some white noise, but after she did that the smell of pest control products filled the room. The motel confirmed it had been treated the previous week. My wife gets migraines from smells so this would not have worked. We had just driven from North Carolina to Virginia - about a nine hour trip, but we decided at 10PM to leave and drive back to Vermont through the night. Luckily we made it with no problems. We were not offered another room farther away from the commotion, nor was the clerk able to give us a refund because we booked through booking.com. I talked to someone there the next day at the motel and they said that booking.com gives the motel a "gift card" number to pay for the room and she didn't think the motel could do anything about a refund. I contacted booking.com and after 2 or 3 days I received a refund of about 1/2 what we paid.
